Radia is an international informal network of radio stations which provide a platform for radio as an art form. Radio art can be performances, a talk, a soundscape, it can be noisy or a kind of documentary. Radia is an audio space for radio works which struggle for frequencies. There are 20 participating community radio stations in 13 different countries broadcasting Radia. Each week different stations take turns in asking an artist to create a piece for broadcast. Every country and city has a different frequency, a different static, accent and language - this can create interesting problems. In August there will be a radio art piece broadcast from Wellington. The Radia broadcast is 28 minutes, then follows the Audio Athenaeum of the Here and After transmitting sonic offerings by musicians and machines from the here and after.
